SHOUT FOR SOUTH PALM AVENUE
We don't intend to be rude, we just want to be heard!
We need your voice to help advocate for South Palm Avenue.
SHOUT Is a new SARASOTA neighborhood ADVOCACY Group whose mission is to preserve the quality of life on S. Palm Avenue through the pursuit of four focused objectives:
SETBACKS - Advocating for the return of building setbacks on the West side of S. Palm Avenue into Sarasota’s City Zoning Code
SUPPORT- OUR fellow S. Palm Avenue residents who will be immediately impacted by the future developments planned in our neighborhood.
ADVOCATE - for New Construction and Safety Regulations governing the development of new high rise buildings in Sarasota as was recently requested during the Essex House presentation, "Construction and Safety Issues for the Citizens of Sarasota" delivered before the City Commission on June 19, 2017
Encourage - the reevaluation of Sarasota's Administrative Review SYSTEM and Advocate for changes to the Downtown zoning code that will return public input back into the Development approval process.
SHOUT is already having a positive impact. Through our efforts, over 50 S. Palm Avenue residents rallied their support for the Essex House presentation mentioned above, the results of which included the immediate enforcement of some safety regulations at the Echelon (Now referred to as 624 Palm) site.
In addition, the june 22, 2017 edition of the Observer featured "Look Out Below", an article written by David Conway, that outlined Essex House Manager Cindy Lang and Lottie Varano's story. The red link below will take you to the ARTICLE.
SHOUT has also posted a video of THE Essex House May 4, 2017 presentation titled "Echelon a Cautionary Tale", on Youtube which you can view by clicking the red link below.
